AWEA 2017: GE's John Lavelle - 'We're going to play hard'

SPONSORED CONTENT: Windpower Monthly spoke to GE Renewable Energy offshore wind CEO John Lavelle.

John Lavelle said the US wanted to keep the momentum gained, following the completion of the nation's first offshore wind project at Block Island.

"With Block Island being the first project to be completed, there is are big ambitions now in the US.

"I don't think the US has any more challenges than you have in Europe or China or anywhere else," Lavelle added.

John Lavelle was appointed offshore wind CEO at GE in November, replacing Anders Soe Jensen.

"We think there is a supply-demand equation long-term that gives offshore wind a play in the market to be competitive, so we're bullish on it and we're going to play hard here," he said.
